General Questions...

I just signed up with your service.  How long will it take for my spam to be reduced?

  • Once we set you up on our system and the required DNS changes are made to your domain name, as your DNS changes propagate through the world, your mail will take about 48 hours to point to our server towers.  You will see a marked reduction within 48-72 hours from the time of making the DNS changes.  Depending on your registrar, it can take longer.
I am concerned that I will lose e-mails.  Can I be sure that this will not happen?

  • Our spam and virus service is a true "non-invasive" system.  We do not delete any messages due to spam.  Depending on your level of service there are different ways to handle your messages.  With the 2nd and 3rd tiers of our service, it is your responsibility to manage your emails and active management on your part will eliminate any misplaced or misdirected emails.
    • Tier 1 - With greylisting, we are only rejecting the first attempt at any message sent to you, unless that person has contacted you via e-mail in the past 7 days.  If so, then there is no delay.  The senders e-mail server will resend the message to you automatically after a few minutes and you will receive it.  In any event there is no deletion or trappings of emails at this level.
    • Tier 2 - With spam trapping, we are only trapping potential spam and putting them in a spam folder within your Web Mail Console.  You can white-list of black-list any of these messages on the fly.  Once a sender is white-listed, their email will go directly to your inbox on your computer.  You only occasionally have to log in and make sure legitimate emails are not being trapped.
    • Tier 3 - With our Challenge-Response we hold any messages in our queue that have not be responded to with the correct challenge code.   If the sender of any message to you responds to our challenge request, their intial message and any and all future messages they send will be delivered directly to your inbox.  You only occasionally have to log in and make sure legitimate emails are not being blocked.
How effective is your service in reducing viruses and spam?

  • Our services are very effective in reducing spam.  Most customers report a 75% reduction in spam with our Tier 1 service and a nearly 90% with Tier 2 spam trapping.  Our Tier 3 Challenge-Response level service can yield a near perfect 100% elimination of spam to your inbox.
  • Any account that is serviced by JunkDebunk has active Anti-Virus filtering enabled.  Our virus protection has a success rate of 99.9%.
I have a file that someone is trying to email me and the virus protection is keeping the file from being received by me.  What can I do?

  • Our virus protection is very sensitive.  If the file that is being emailed to you has any of the below noted extensions, please zip the file up with WinZip and have the sender resend you the file.  For your protection, we actively scan and block files with the following extensions: ".ade", ".adp", ".bas", ".bat", ".chm", ".cmd", ".com", ".cpl", ".crt", ".eml", ".exe", ".hlp", ".hta", ".inf", ".ins", ".isp", ".jse", ".lnk", ".mdb", ".msc", ".msi", ".msp", ".mst", ".pcd", ".pif", ".reg", ".scr", ".sct", ".shs", ".url", ".vbs" and ".vbe".
There appears to be a delay in receiving certain emails.  Why is this happening and is it normal?

  • We perform a process called "greylisting" for all of our customers.  This process is successful on cutting down the amount of your spam greatly.  Most customers report a 75% reduction using this feature alone!  This process works by initially rejecting any unknown sender.  When the sending server resends any message (which all legitimate email will be resent) it will then go through and be delivered to you on the second attempt. Mail is normally resent within 10 minutes or so.  Generally, servers are set to resend messages minutes after the first attempt.  People who mail each-other a lot will experience the discomfort of greylisting only once (at the beginning).  People who rarely mail each other may experience a short delay, but compared to the time between mails, the greylisting delay is mostly negligible.  It could be from a few minutes to a little longer, but this feature will block you from huge amounts of spam.  Only a few customers have found this very short delay any real inconvenience.

  What are your billing terms?
